Freightrain Launches Online Chain of Responsibility Training
by Freightrain
Freightrain has made complying with Chain of Responsibility legislation easier with the introduction of cost effective, flexible and on demand e-learning programs. The company’s online modules provide a convenient solution for organisations that need to educate their staff on the correct procedures when handling and transporting freight.
Users can access the training on demand at a time most suitable to them, allowing businesses to keep moving without the need to coordinate large groups to attend training. The learning can be paused and re-started at any time so employees can complete the training within a couple of hours or over a couple of weeks. Additionally, the training can be accessed anywhere with an internet connection, providing support to regional and remote areas. Following completion, expert trainers mark the assessment and provide quick, practical feedback.
The online modules educate users on all of their Chain of Responsibility requirements, including fatigue management and load restraint and are delivered by training partner BSI Learning, who has been developing solutions since 1993. “The need to be flexible is essential, especially where freight is involved as the industry is always on the move” says Freightrain co-founder and BSI Learning director Graham Raspass. “By providing an online solution, we can effectively educate those involved in the transportation process on Chain of Responsibility compliance, with minimal effect to the essential day to day operations of the business.”
Chain of Responsibility legislation states that anybody involved in the logistics and transportation of a product can be held responsible for breaches of transport and safety laws. This affects not only those who physically handle and sight the freight, but also managers and directors of those companies. The law requires that both companies and individuals need to be able to demonstrate that ‘reasonable steps’ have been taken to prevent a breach occurring.
Freightrain was formed in 2008 after businesses in the freight, warehousing and transportation industries became concerned that they would not meet the expectations and requirements of the then newly introduced legislation. Utilising a combined 60 years experience in the freight, haulage and training industries, JSCC Management and BSI Learning joined together to form Freightrain. The company now helps businesses become CoR compliant by identifying gaps in compliance, closing those gaps through procedure development and staff training and confirming compliance through certified RABQSA auditors.
